The Kaduna State High Court will tomorrow deliver judgement in the “no case” submission put in by the defense lawyers in the matter involving those arrested in Kaduna after Zaria massacre.
The case, which has dragged on for nearly two years now, involves those who were arrested on the 15th of December, 2015 in Kaduna during a procession condemning the brutal attacks in Zaria the week before and demanding the release of Sheikh Zakzaky arrested during the attacks.
The prosecution reluctantly closed their case last month after presenting scores of ‘witnesses,” mostly policemen whose actual involvement in the case was merely taking statements from those arrested. None of them agreed he was at the scene of the alleged offence and they did not investigate the case beyond taking of the statements.
It was on that basis that the defence lawyers entered a no case submission and the case was adjourned to tomorrow for ruling. It remains to be seen which way will the ruling go and what would happen afterwards. Fingers crossed.
