President Buhari’s Kaduna Visit: Harbinger of Doom For The Islamic Movement?

President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Kaduna State has always portended some form of doom for the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. From the inception of his regime in May 2015 to date, the President has officially visited Kaduna on three occasions. In all his visits, he leaves a trail of blood and anguish for the members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

Buhari’s first official visit was on 12th December 2015. The day his government chose for the genocide against the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. His visit was primarily to supervise his military successfully execute the massacre, according to the scripts. It had to be under cover nevertheless and the most cover they could give was to shroud it as an award of Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Kaduna State University. Shamefully, the University had not been running any postgraduate degree leading to the award of the PhD certificate, and could not award what it did not run. But it would do as a cover. To further ensure that his supervisory role went according to plan, Buhari on the same day, was made to attend a music festival, during which he kept an eye on the happenings in Zaria. Never mind that he kept on saying later that he was not briefed about the Zaria genocide. The scope and magnitude of the horrendous attacks give him away however. How would such scale of mass murder of civilian citizens by the Nigerian Army, of whom he was the ultimate Commander-in-Chief, happen without his knowledge or without a sanction if truly it was done without him being informed?

The President’s second official visit was on 12th September 2017. Again, he came under cover of commissioning a private farm. Soon after his departure, the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai sent his troops to unleash mayhem on members of the Islamic Movement carrying out their solemn religious observance of Ashura in Kaduna and Zaria.

It is justified to brace up with what his third visit holds for the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. It was reported that President Buhari came to commission the Kaduna Inland Dry Port. But could this be just another cover? This is because the same project had earlier been commissioned by his Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday, 20th June 2017.

Whatever the real reasons are for the President’s visit, we are watching and our reliance on God for support and help is solid.
