Police Open Fire On Peaceful Free Zakzaky Protesters In Kaduna, Zaria

Police in Kaduna State this evening opened fire on peaceful protesters calling for freedom of Sheikh Zakzaky whose health situation worsened in illegal detention in the last few days. Members and sympathizers have taken to the streets in several towns and cities to demand for the release of the ailing Sheikh since the news filtered out that the Sheikh’s health situation has nosedived for the worst. In a procession that thousands came out to fill the popular Ahmadu Bello Way in Kaduna to demand for the immediate release of the Sheikh, policemen well-armed to the teeth, opened fire at the mammoth crowd, injuring a number of people. It is not clear yet how many were affected by the police act of brutality. News from Zaria also has it that police has similarly opened fire at the hundreds that came out to protest. There were however no reports of similar police attacks at other protests carried out in several other towns across the country.
