Kaduna High Court Resumes Sitting In Cases Involving Those Arrested During Zaria Massacre

The cases involving members of the Islamic Movement arrested during the Zaria massacre and charged before various courts in Kaduna will resume sitting from today and tomorrow 9th and 10th January, 2018.

Those standing trial before Justice Nyoms of the Kaduna state High Court will be sitting from Tuesday 9th January, 2018 as was adjourned before the Courts went on vacation.

It is expected that the prosecution will close its case at the resumed hearing with the presentation of its last set of witnesses. The case has dragged for far too long because of the prosecution’s slow pace of presenting its witnesses. That prompted the trial Judge Justice Nyoms to instruct them to ensure that they prepare to present all their remaining witnesses on resumption.

In the last two sittings, the witnesses have been giving contradictory evidence at the trial. While one suggested that it was possible that the corpse of Dan Kaduna allegedly killed by the accused during the Zaria incidence was partially decomposed and might have indeed died before the 12 December date of the alleged crime, the principal witness in the case told the court that he was told Dan Kaduna was killed by friendly fire.

Others standing trial before the other High Court close to NDA will resume hearing at various dates in January, 2018.

We will keep you informed as the cases progress. Keep a date with us.
