Kaduna State Govt Appeals Against Judgement Setting Members of Movement Free

The Kaduna state government has appealed against the judgement of the State High Court that discharged and acquitted members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in relation to the December 2015 peaceful free Zakzaky procession in Kaduna.

Earlier, the state high court presided by Justice Esther Lolo absolved all the accused of all the five-count charges brought against them. In upholding the no case submission, Justice Lolo ruled in favor of the 10 members of the Islamic Movement who were arraigned before her in 2016 for the alleged offences of Criminal Conspiracy, Unlawful Assembly, Rioting, Disturbance of Public Peace and Causing Grievous Hurt.

The appeal was filed yesterday at the Kaduna Appeal Court in appeal number CA/K/ /2018 Suit number KDH/KAD/3c/2018 and seeks yo set aside the entire judgement of the lower court.

No date yet has been fixed for hearing.
