An activist, Mr. Ifeanyi, who said he came from Lagos to support the Free Zakzaky Sit Out Campaign by the Concerned Nigerians, has said that since assumption of office nearly three years ago, President Muhammadu Buhari has created more widows than jobs.
He was speaking today at the daily free Zakzaky Sit Out campaign at the Unity Fountain, Abuja.
He described the Buhari administration as a colossal failure, in which human life is taken as nothing. He called for the immediate release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, his wife and the teeming members being unjustifiably detained.
He said tyranny and oppression have become the norm in this administration resulting in severe rights abuses.
He decried the way police and the military are being used to wantonly kill innocent people as if they were animals. “When the type of atrocities committed against the Shias in Zaria are being told outside this country, it is horrifying that even animals could not have been so treated.”
“Although I am a Christian, I detest oppression because my religion does not condone injustice,” he said. He therefore called on all people of conscience everywhere in this country to protest the illegal detention of the Sheikh, his wife and members. According to Ifeanyi, it is against the law of natural justice to continually detain an innocent man of God, who is peaceful and has been a unifying force in the country.
He called on the Igbo people, “even those in Enugu,” to rally round in support of the freedom of Sheikh Zakzaky. He pledged to come along with so many other Igbo people to show support for the free Zakzaky campaign.
Also speaking at the Sit Out event, one of those who lost her husband (a medical doctor) and three of their grown up sons, Malama Amina Muhammad, described the ferocity with which the military attacked members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
