The Federal Secretariat in Abuja today came alive as thousands of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, who took to the street in the city of Abuja peacefully protesting the continued illegal detention of the leader Sheikh Zakzaky, ended the procession at the City Center.
The protest took off from the Unity Fountain soon after the daily Sit Out campaign by the coalition of groups, led by the Concerned Nigerians.
The highly impressive and well organized procession was led by Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello and it ended peacefully without any incident.
At the termination of the protest, Sheikh Abdulhamid praised the efforts and steadfastness of the members of the Movement, who have remained consistent in the call for the unconditional release of the Leader.
He called on the authorities to free Sheikh Zakzaky if they are tired of seeing us staging mass protests in the FCT.
He finally led a special closing prayer calling on participants to peacefully return to their places of abode.
