Prince Deji Detained Once Again By IGP

The convener of Daily Free Zakzaky Sit Out campaign, Deji Adeyanju has been once again detained on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.

Deji was arrested and detained last Friday by the Abuja Police Commissioner as the police tried to forcibly stop the daily sit out campaign at the Unity Fountain, Abuja. In his short stay then, he was told that the government was uncomfortable with the free Zakzaky sit out and must desist or face serious consequences. He was also told to report this Monday.

Some members of the Concerned Nigerians and the Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee accompanied Deji to the Force Headquarters, Abuja to honor an invitation by the Police authorities earlier today. On arrival, they were told the Police Commissioner was not available and they have to attach him with an escort to the University of Abuja, where he was scheduled to deliver a lecture on the state of things, before he could then see the Police Commissioner.

However, he was later informed that the Police Chief had given instructions for his immediate arrest and detention. It is not clear where they have taken him to. Whatever be the case, the IGP will be wholly held responsible for the security and safety of the dogged activist.
