Human Rights In Nigeria: Sheikh Zakzaky Case To Be Discussed At UN Side Panel

A special session has been organised at this September’s session of the United Nations Human Rights Council to discuss the case of Sheikh Zakzaky, who continues to be held in violation of a Nigerian Federal High court order demanding his release from detention by the state security services.

The side panel is to be held on Tuesday, 18th September from 10 – 11am (BST + 1) in Room XV, United Nations Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland on the auspices of the Islamic Human Rights Commission.

Panelists expected at the side panel include Mr. Massoud Shadjareh,  the Chair of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, the Head of Advocacy of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, Mr. Abed Choudhry and Dr. Amirbahram Arabahmadi, the Head of Southern African Studies Department, International Advisor of Faculty of World Studies.

Also expected to make the panel is Suhaila Zakzaky, the daughter of Sheikh Zakzaky who was with her parents as the Nigerian military brutally killed her three brothers and shot her parents before hauling them into detention just a little over a thousand days ago.
