Kashmiris Defy Heavy Downpour For Free Zakzaky Protest

The heavy rainfall that went on for hours was not enough to stop activists in the Nasl-e-Inqilab Kashmir division Magam from carrying out a peaceful Free Zakzaky protest yesterday, 25th of July 2019.

The protest was to demand the immediate release of the leading Nigerian Muslim Cleric and head of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

The procession started from the Government Boys Higher Secondary School to Magam Bus stand. Protesters carried the placards bearin famous quotes of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

A protester, Irfan Hussain, explained,
“We are protesting against the brutal, illegal and corrupt Nigerian government that massacred 347 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, including 6 sons of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. They attacked him in his residence, then imprisoned him along with his wife since 14th December, 2015. After spending years in jail, he is currently in critical condition living his last moments and yet the Nigerian authorities are refusing to allow him to access medical care.”

The protesters also chanted slogans condemning International Human Rights Organizations, blaming them for being silent spectators of this heinous crime.

The leader of the protesting activists said they would continue to hold such protests until Sheikh Zakzaky is released.
